AMD’s Radeon RX 500X graphics cards are just RX 500-series GPUs with a new name - joneswhowlead1992

The $799 entryway-level model of HP's new Pavilion gaming laptops includes Radeon RX 560X art, a GPU unheard of before this morning. Only that's no typo. On Wednesday, AMD announced the Radeon RX 500X series of artwork cards, which basically slap a new name happening the existing Radeon RX 500-series GPUs (which themselves were pretty much a slightly faster, rebranded version of the RX 400-series).
Radeon RX 500X artwork cards will only exist available to makers of laptops and prebuilt desktops, but wear't let that pain in the neck you.
"There are no hardware differences to non-X [RX 500 GPUs]," an AMD spokesperson told me. "The Radeon RX 500X series artwork cards is a brand refresh for 2018 OEM platforms that ensures Radeon RX 500 series cards are using the stylish 'Polaris' architecture-based ironware and number one wood revisions (Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition) for 2018."
Some AMD and Nvidia sometimes rebrand present graphics cards when there's a long dry spell between new GPU generations and then that laptop and screen background makers have the "stylish" hardware to sell inside their PCs. Fresh Intel 8th-gen laptop and background processors just became available, and some other generation of Ryzen desktop processors is scheduled to plunge this month. These rebranded GPUs exist so that PC makers can market "new" graphics card game in systems with those genuinely new CPUs.
AMD Over again, don't expect to see distinct Radeon RX 500X graphics cards on computer memory shelves. As AMD's voice said, this is a unmixed stigmatisation play for PC vendors, and an chance for those manufacturers to market all the truly killer new features in Radeon Software package Adrenalin Edition. If you already have a PC with Radeon graphics inside, be fated to sway by AMD's download page to plectrum it raised.
Touch Nvidia is expected to release red-hot graphics cards supported its Volta GPU architecture sometime this year, but the arrival of yet another Polaris refresh apparently dumps cold water on some hopes of a Radeon response to the threat. The graphics architecture roadmap that AMD unveiled at CES 2018 didn't show any hot GPUs in the grapevine for this twelvemonth except for a interpretation of Vega collective on the 7nm cognitive process node for simple machine learning customers.
